Evil and Good

We as individuals have the potential for both Evil and Good. Sometimes the lines drawn between them become blurred and this is when we err and go down the path of Evil. The is a Jewish principle that a person does not act in Evil other than in folly. In that time when out lines are blurred and our mind is overcome with folly that we degrade our nature as humans. We forget the crucible that we hold ourselves to. We do things that we otherwise would make us shudder, for we have lied to ourselves in folly and the wrong is now right. Dark becomes light.

Take a look at the box office of late. The silver screen is dominated with death, horror, and even torture. The movie "Hostel" is the pinnacle of this era in Hollywood. We question how a person can commit such an act as torture, yet how many people packed the movie theaters to be entertained by a movie which is about other people getting off on watching a person tortured to death in most horrid ways?

No law against torture will get to the root in our humanity that lets it exist. Until we as humans no longer consider death a form of entertainment, the ugly face of torture will always be a part of our societies.

Kyl, I noticed very early on after I moved to the US how so many movies, on tv or theater, and tv shows had this theme of 'the end justifies the means'.. the idea of violence always bothered me in those medium. It is culturally a point of reference to this country I think because also, this country literally never had to deal with true subjugation (am talking about the anglos who conquered it), or occupation. this country came about by violence, war, conquest.. it's no wonder that there never was a time of enlightenment here as this has been the only common theme here.. torture is just one part of the notion of 'the end justifies the means' that is so prevalent here, overtly, or subjectively..

Yeh, I't just been watching 'The Shield'. It's one of those cop dramas where the cops use violence and intimidation to get the info from the subjects, and then get treated like heroes.

I can't watch shows like that any more, it makes me angry.

He is a war president.
He is fightin a war fer peace. When everbody that opposes him is ded then we will have peace. It is simple really.

Y'all librals try to make thangs complicated with yor "morals" and "standards", when all you really have ta do is lissen ta GW. Jez turn off that overactive mind and let GW in...jez look at how happy I is, and I'm a country ninja fer cryin out loud...

Ask GW into yor life now and avoid the judgment...
